Problems arising from curing STD's with antibiotics
As
a one who has long been interested in the mechanisms of infection , whose
article on AIDS was published in Journal of Alternative Medicine I feel
that there are some facts which, whilst available to those who do research
, are not generally appreciated. These I feel deserve wider publicity ,
particularly amongst alternative therapists. I pick on STD's because they
have been deeply researched and are particularly relevant to AIDS. FACT.
The W.H.O. declared gonorrhea out of control in 1987 and it was stated
that the only infection MORE prevalent was the common cold, FACT. A textbook
on Venereological Medicine published in 1982 points out that the clinical
diagnosis of gonorrhea is unreliable in males and usually impossible in
females & also that serum tests have very limited practical use. FACT.
In syphilis and almost certainly in gonorrhea there is a relative immunity
IF THE CASE IS LEFT UNTREATED FOR 3 MONTHS. HOWEVER IF ANTIBIOTICS ARE
PROMPTLY GIVEN IN THE EARLY INFECTION , THEN N0 SUCH IMMUNITY DEVELOPS
AND IMMEDIATE REINFECTION IS POSSIBLE. Just to point up the implications
of this , if in the individual the body comes to terms with the infection
, he or she obtains immunity to reinfection. If both parties to a sexual
contact have their immunity in place then neither will exhibit symptoms
of infection. If one partner does not have individual immunity then they
are likely to be infected. Women can be infected and suffer little in the
way of symptoms or discomfort. FACT. A conflict arises as the individual
is usually better off if untreated, as they gain immunity to further infection.
However once immune then contact with others who are not immune spreads
infection. Society takes the attitude that individuals should be treated
and thus deprived of the possibility of personal immunity. However the
practical outcome of years of treatment and contact tracing has resulted
in the W.H.O. recognizing that gonorrhea is out of control. Would anyone
care to Comment on (a) the practical & (b) the moral issues involved
? . . Fact the immunity seems operate by virtue of organisms with a non
virulent nature and a very low rate of multiplication , which avoids conflict
with the individuals existing defense system. If after years of normal
life with a tolerance built up towards the infection, the individual falls
ill and is dosed with strong antibiotics that kills all the avirulent organisms
at one hit then the dead organisms can release such a quantity of toxins
may cause anaphylactic shock leading to heart damage and failure, and '
IT MAY ACCELERATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE ' (i.e. AlDS &
ARC.) These facts were published in a venereolgical textbook by two consultants
in 1982 and apparently ignored by the mainstream of medical thought. OPINION.
Where did AIDS really start ?. In the bath house scene of New York. It
started because promiscuity meant rapid infection with gonorrhea. Individuals
did not wait for their immune system to " Tame " and come to terms with
the infection. In this age of instant cure they were prescribed antibiotics
and cured. However this prevented individual immunity and led to rapid
reinfection, followed by equally rapid cure by antibiotics. Each time this
cycle occurred the immune system was weakened. With a 1,000 partners per
year in some cases it is not surprising that the repeated infection - antibiotic
cure cycle soon gave rise to immune systems so damaged that the phenomena
of AIDS arose. QUESTION Have the homosexuals taught us a lesson or shall
we repeat the same sorry story in the heterosexual world. FACT. Clinical
lesions have been REACTIVATED by the use of steroid hormones in rabbits
and prolonged steroid treatment may do likewise to humans. FACT. It is
virtually impossible to distinguish between non specific genital infection
(MSGI ; or NSU ) which can be treated by all therapists and gonorrhea ,
which is notifiable and cannot be so treated. FACT. It is now obvious that
as in the way that there is a Spectrum stretching from harmless warts to
the worst cancerous tumour; there is also a similar spectrum from a slightly
weakened immune system to ARC and full blown AIDS of which there are at
least two varieties. It would be possible to expound at length upon the
implications to be drawn , but a little thought will be far more effective
than words. I do feel that the future may look back at our times and say
that the tragedy of AIDS was that it could have been averted.
